Bah, once again, playing Eve on my laptop is too difficult... It will go from this: to This: Ever few seconds...Constantly... Anyone have any ideas? After speaking with Z, i rolled back my computer to a previous date, and it worked for a little bit - But then its started again. Could it be memory related? I can switch to windowed mode, and it will run..ok...until I open up another app, say firefox...then it starts again. Also, if i have something come up on the screen (like a dialog box), the "ghost" will stay there whenever the screen goes mad.. This isn't just when playing Eve..but also when browsing the internet, or simply just having my computer on..

How much memory do you have? Might be that; I have had issues in the past when my cpu overheated and weird things happened.

Yeah, IMHO 512 mb is bit light for memory.

Here we go. Someone alse with odd graphics issues. How do I get my image in here? I see no file upload or attachment choices.
BTW, my graphics issues are directly related to heat.

Post your pics to a upload site (I use Photobucket) but as its Eve related you can try Eve-Files.com Then, just use [ i m g ] followed by the direct link http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt120/phoenix492/20091019183135.jpg and end with [ / i m g ] and it should work.. Also: Without the spaces in the [] - had to put them in to stop it from recognising them! lol

those were extreme, but still, that's the sort of crud I run into sometimes.

Mine is becoming like that - thing is, i last encountered this on the last big patch day - but no patch recently..so whats going on? But last patch day, i updated my drivers - and it cleared what you have Shiogi, have you tried that yet? If there is no official patch (there wasn't for my card) I downloaded 3rd party drivers, and that cleared it right up.. Hope that helps ya!

Well, i updated windows yesterday (apparently auto-update wasn't really updating automatically..or was being selective at the very least!) and i managed to get my quota mined yesterday, without any real dramas (although, when docked i was having some graphics problems - even with everything turned off)... Guessing maybe a new Windows Patch has someone had a run-in with a 3d Card Driver? I'm using Catalyst 9600/9700 Drivers for my ATI 9700 Radeon Mobility Card..I've pretty much always used them - but did a fresh download / install just to be safe. My laptop does have a heat problem (so much so i have it raised up at the back, and the bottom covers off to get more air in!) but it just generally shuts itself down if its overheating, which says to me thats not a problem this end..could be the half RAM I'm using mind..

I run with a 2-fan lapfan for overheating. Minimizes most of it. My laptop is provided by my company and has only onboard graphics. Everytime I attempt to update drivers, I get the 'no updates available' message. And you are correct, thos were a bit extreme, but only by a bit. I correct the issue, by going to the graphics options, in Eve, and changing from low to medium, or vice versa, and then hit apply. it clears it up until the next time - 2 minutes to 2 hours. Most nights i never see this problem, though.

Well, my laptop's dead. Switch it on, and the power light comes on - thats it. To be honest, I'd been dragging out its death for probably the best part of a year, what with buying a new screen, Hard drive, halfing its RAM (as one had become corrupt), numerous re-formats and re-installs etc etc..It WAS bought november 2003 iirc...6 years for a laptop that could still play games that were coming out this year (although it suffered) wasn't too bad..she'd served me well o7 Cazz has said if her brother can find a cheap alienware laptop, she'll buy it for me, but with the baby enroute thats pretty unlikely really. So I'm stuck on the ageing (although younger than my laptop lol) desktop Where i can login, change skills etc but can't do anything much outside the station as it just lags out and i emorage until i quit (autopilot might be possible though hehe not much good out in 0.0) Still, it will see me good until i go off next year...Then all I'll be able to do is talk Cazz into logging in and changing my skills lol!

I feel for you Phoenix. If my company didn't provide my laptop, I wouldn't be able to game. My desktop is barely functional. Gratz to you and Cazz on the soon to be arrival.

Thanks guys :) After de-fragging my harddrive, and moving Eve to C:\ instead of C:\program files, it runs slightly better...I can undock and such, so hopefully i can look at getting it back together..
